My experience & knowledge when it comes to London is heavily relied on Mary-Kate & Ashley’s movie “Winning London” . When booking our trip we knew we would have limited time in London-town seeing as it was just a quick day lay-over before we continued on to Naples, Italy. With that said, we landed in Gatwick, quickly checked into our hotel and immediately took the train into the city. We had a very bleak idea of what to do within a short amount of time but, nonetheless I believe we saw quite a bit of landmark’s given our timeline.
We started our tour at uniquely looking structure of City Hall, walking around to be confronted by the River Thames and stunning Tower Bridge — which I had always just called London Bridge, I guess that is why you travel and learn. Downed a triple americano in the corridor street Shad Thames then made the jump across the river. After wondering around with my face turned up at the clouds admiring the intricate and modern architecture of London skyline we quickly jumped back on the tube towards Westminster. Might I add that during this whole day I had Sixpence Non The Richer’s “There She Goes” playing in my head as if I was Hallie Parker pretending to be Annie James (this trip had no top hat and vail combo appearances, sigh Liz James).
Arriving at Buckingham Palace we walked along the gardens towards Wellington Arch concluding at Harrods — where I essentially had an outer-body experience in regards to food, fashion, and luxury cars.
Speaking of outer body experience, we ended up in Notting Hill. The only way I can articulate my emotions of being completely in awe of the posh aesthetic are in Carrie Bradshaw’s own words; “i’ve died and went to real estate heaven”
Leaving the quiet streets of Notting Hill we changed paces and toured around Camden Market in search of a recommended “Sunday Roast”. After jumping in an out of street vendors and pubs we landed at “The Lock Tavern” for dinner to conclude our day before heading back to the hotel to embark on the early travel to the Amalfi Coast.
