With a quick less than 24-hour stop in London we were up and off to Naples, Italy to then head south to the Amalfi Coast. We originally planed to take a bus or some sort of public transit to the coast but due to our arrival time we opted for a taxi. Pricey — but reasonable when dividing it amongst a group of people, especially after flying early we just wanted to GET THERE and this allowed us to leave the minute we decided. I needed to be submerged with some limoncello A.S.A.P. rocky. In the beginning stages of planing this whole trip we never thought about going to the Amalfi Coast, it was going to be a Greek Islands expedition (or party boat cruise). As summer went on, one of girl’s mentioned we should probably check out the Italian coast before jumping over to Santorini. Obviously I said yes after living through multiple Instagram accounts and celebrities who had vacationed in that area. Before we knew it we had a phenomenal Airbnb (Check it out here!) booked and a updated itinerary.
After an hour drive we began to spot the ocean, which I was super thankful for because I was ready to jump out. But that wasn’t necessarily the next step. Winding around cliffside roads we started to make a slight decent as we moved along the coast driving through Minori, Maiori, Atrani, finally arriving in the town of Amalfi. Our Airbnb host’s were the absolute best. The location turned out to be perfect for a home base in Amalfi. Shocking enough, the property was a lot larger than we anticipated with a breathtaking patio and spectacular unobstructed views of Amalfi port. The steps were a bit much after long days but totally worth it once you reached that patio~.
We quickly unpacked, changed, and jumped down to the beach for a very much deserved dunk. For space restrictions I obviously was not packing a towel all the way from Canada, with that, I wanted to find a small canvas bag to have a day-to-day use while on vacation. Within 10 minutes of being in the town center I found both — lightweight cloth towel with “Amalfi” stitched in and a perfect cross body canvas bag all for 13€! (Which I used the whole trip). By this point we were toast. Grabbed some wine, fresh sliced prosciutto, cheese & fruit and started the climb back to our Airbnb to relax before our first full day of exploring and the highly anticipated hike to Positano via “Path of Gods”.
PATH OF GODS
After grabbing the bus along the coast to Bromerano we started the hike which seemed to be pretty residential until we hit the cliffside vineyards. The first little bit felt rather forest like weaving in and out of wooded areas and deep ravine’s. Throughout the hike you’re treated to remarkable views of the ocean. Seeing all the yachts docked around Positano, private lagoons and rugged beaches I wondered what season of Bravo’s “Below Deck” was being filmed. We started the hike around 10 a.m. and took us about 2.5 hours to complete. The hike was rather easy for the most part — we found some areas to be difficult depending on your footwear. The worst part of the hike was the ongoing stairs towards the main road to Positano. I would NOT recommend doing this hike the opposite way. Starting off with those stairs would kill me for the rest of the adventure. You’d think coming down the stairs would be easy but let me assure you after scaling the mountainside it was terrible. Realistically it wasn’t a big part of the hike but left you feeling that you conquered something. With that said, I would recommend this hike to anyone that visits Amalfi. We had a friend suggest it to us and very glad she did — I’d like to do it again someday.

After a lengthy decent we finally reached picturesque Positano. A cliffside village filled with boutiques, warm tones, narrow streets, and chalk-full of influencers. Arriving at the top of the town we were in the same place as the previous day, adamant to get to the water for a much deserved plunge. The beach itself is lined with restaurants and street artists. Parts of the beach are broken up into areas to purchase sun-beds and umbrellas but we opted for the public beach where you can post up with your own towel. Our time was limited in Positano due to the fact we wanted to catch a boat tour back to home to Amalfi so we got our tan on and devoured caprese sandwiches. One of the main attractions I wanted to experience on this vacation was the highly recommended cocktail spot apart of the gorgeously-lux Le Sirenuse hotel, called Fracos Bar.

Although Francos doesn’t open until 5:30 we killed time cooling down with some Bellini’s and Negroni’s at another bar in the Ancora Hotel (directly next to Francos). Line up’s at Francos started around 5 o’clock which I promptly jumped over and got a spot in — once the gate opened I was extremely excited that we were able to have enough time for one cocktail before going back to the boat. Francos was exactly what I was hoping for. An open rooftop terrace with one of the best views of Positano. The staff had been personable and friendly being greeted to popcorn and fresh olives until our cocktails arrived. We decided to go with their special cocktail La Dolce Vita and it was as fresh as you can imagine.
Probably the same sensation Annie had when drinking the welcome beverage to Lilian’s engagement party in Bridesmaids (there is no way of me knowing exactly this but I totally can imagine). One of the most unexpected moments of being at this bar was that under each table is a small blue book that gives of a description of materials used by artists and the overall design of the establishment. It made me appreciate the beautiful surroundings and integrity of Francos Bar. After a couple of Insta-worthy photo ops it was time for us to make it to the boat. The boat ride back served to be another unexpected gem — we were able to see the cliffside terrain that we had previously hiked from the water as we sailed back to Amalfi. This was wildly rewarding to know we accomplished one of the top-rated hikes in the world.
FINAL • DINNER
After a tipsy boat ride back we chose The Royal Restaurant & Wine Bar for our last Italian dinner. An order of garlic mussels, calamari, margarita pizza, red wine & prosecco, with limoncello to finish. We picked up another round of gelato and began the walk back to our Airbnb, being left completely satisfied with what we saw only 2 days in the Amalfi Coast. I’m so glad that we managed to add this location to the list, I would 100% return to the Amalfi Coast. Off to Greece for some island hopping!
